Echinops sphaerocephalus L.

Flora Europaea the original Linnean specimen perennial, G-H, 2n=32, tetraploid mesic, from the forest-steppe up to the upper nemoral Palearctic (the species) with a few subspecies in isolated regions from the Mediterranean. Arrhenatheretalia, Dauco-Melilotion, Onopordion, Arction R37, R38, R87 habitats     The most common species of Echinops from Romania which in contrast with the two species with deep blue flowers is not xeric-mesoxeric but mesic and sometimes ruderal.
