mesic, from the forest-steppe up to the upper nemoral

Palearctic (the species) with a few subspecies in isolated regions from the Mediterranean.

The most common species of Echinops from Romania which in contrast with the two species with deep blue flowers is not xeric-mesoxeric but mesic and sometimes ruderal.
